Young woman threw herself from a sixth floor after arguing with her boyfriend during a New Year’s meeting

The first hours of 2022 were the last for a young woman who was celebrating the beginning of the New Year with her partner and other friends in an apartment building in the Doctores neighborhood, Cuauhtémoc mayor’s office, local media reported.

According to official reports, the 25-year-old would have argued with her partner during the early morning hours and later would have thrown herself into the void from a sixth floor.

Shortly after dawn, medical emergency personnel from the Cuauhtémoc mayor’s office went to the building, located at 50 Doctor José Terres street, next to the General Hospital of Mexico, to stabilize Daniela, who fell to an area in the first floor inside the building.

However, paramedics determined that the woman had died from the fall.

Daniela and her relatives supposedly arrived at the building of more than 15 apartments on the night of December 31 to celebrate the arrival of 2022, but at around 5 in the morning the young woman and her partner began to argue outside the apartment, according to the witnesses told the agents of the Secretariat of Citizen Security.

At one point during the discussion, according to local press reports, the young woman intentionally jumped from the balcony of the apartment where the meeting was being held.

The agents of the Asturias sector who attended the incident presented to the Cuauhtémoc-II Public Ministry agency all those who were in the meeting, approximately 15 people.

Personnel from the General Coordination of Forensic Investigation and Expert Services and from the Special Prosecutor’s Office for the Investigation of the Crime of Femicide intervened at the site to lift the evidence and transfer Daniela’s body to the amphitheater.

Throughout the pandemic, depression, anxiety and other ailments related to the mind increased. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 300 million people have depression, which is the most common disability in the world.

The most worrying thing in the pandemic context is the increase in suicides that occurred in 2020, the period in which the health contingency began. In the case of Mexico, there were 7,869 people who decided to end their lives, the statistics rising by 9% compared to 2019.
