The Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MSPAS) explained in its report that during the pandemic the country added 628 thousand 589 cases of covid-19, but most of them (608 thousand 642) have recovered from the disease.
Statistics show that at the end of 2021, in Guatemala there were 3,839 active cases of coronavirus.
The cumulative incidence of the disease is 3,728.7 cases per 100,000 Guatemalans, while the mortality rate is 95.5 per 100,000 inhabitants, and the fatality rate is 2.6 percent.
According to the report, to date a total of 3,281,000 covid-19 tests have been carried out in the country with a positive proportion of 19.2%.
It also points out that 11 million 310 thousand 579 doses of vaccines against the virus have been applied and of these 4 million 686 thousand 883 are full scheme. In addition, 88 thousand 446 people have already received the booster of the third dose.
The Guatemalan health authorities fear that the cases of covid-19 will increase due to the end of the year holidays due to social gatherings and lack of distancing.
