Migration expects an increase in national and foreign travelers for the holidays

Due to the Christmas and New Year celebrations, authorities expect a considerable increase in the number of people entering Guatemala, as well as those who leave the country; both by air and land border.

From January to November, 464 thousand 688 people entered the La Aurora International Airport and 478 thousand 74 people left through the same route, according to data from immigration authorities.

While in the Valle Nuevo Border Post, by land, the entry of 202 thousand 73 people and the exit of 164 thousand 910 were registered, due to the high figures that are expected for these dates the authorities are preparing.

“In that sense, the positions in question have been strengthened with the aim of streamlining immigration controls, so we recommend that people carry their passport, Guatemalan visa if applicable and the complete tax return to avoid delays,” they reported The authorities.

Sanitary measures

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Guatemala, like other tourist destinations around the world, maintains health controls to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

Those who are already vaccinated must present their proof of vaccination with a complete schedule, that is, the two doses.

But those who have not received the vaccines or who have an incomplete schedule, that is, a single dose, must present a negative test for covid-19, antigen or PCR, no longer than three days.
