The former player and former sports director of Barcelona Éric Abidal testified on Tuesday, December 21, as a witness before the investigators who are trying to clarify the aggression suffered by the Paris Saint Germain (PSG) player Kheira Hamraoui, with whom it is presumed that he had a relationship when both were in the Catalan capital.
The information was revealed by the daily L’Équipe, which noted that Abidal’s wife, Hayet, had given a statement on Monday. She confirmed it herself on her Instagram account.
“I’m relieved. Happy. I was finally heard yesterday afternoon by the French Versailles police, as I have requested, and simply as a witness. I hope I have helped the investigation. Very soon my future ex-husband will be heard. My best wishes to all of you during this vacation. Take care! ”, He wrote.
The Versailles Judicial Police questioned Abidal specifically about his relationship with the player, who was hit by an unknown person with an iron bar, on November 4, 2021 at night in the town of Chatou, on the outskirts of Paris.
The former French international had recognized days after that attack on the footballer that he had had an intimate relationship with her.
Kheira Hamraoui, a 31-year-old French international, was returning from a dinner on November 4 in a vehicle with her partner Aminata Diallo and was the victim of an attack by two individuals, who struck her several times “in the legs with a bar of iron”.
Hamraoui and Abidal coincided in Barcelona, since the player – who is now 31 years old – was at Barsa from 2018 to June 2021 and the ex-footballer (42 years old) was a Blaugrana sports director between 2018 and 2020.
According to a source close to the case, Hamraoui told investigators that his mobile card was “in the name of his ex” and they established that the holder was former French international Eric Abidal, sports director of Barcelona from 2018 to 2021, years in those that the soccer player belonged to the Spanish club.
The hypothesis of an amorous revenge by Abidal’s environment is “a clue considered among others,” the Versailles prosecutor’s office told AFP in November, without ruling out the possibility that both the former player and his wife would have to testify.

In addition, both Hamraoui and his PSG teammate Aminata Diallo, who also witnessed the attack, said they had heard that the assailants who attacked the first time said: “So what happens? Do we sleep with married men?
A phrase that some have interpreted as an allusion to the former sports director of Barcelona and that also generated rumors about a possible involvement in the action against Hayat Abidal’s player.
However, his statement was as a witness, not as a defendant, as he wanted to make clear on his Instagram account.
