Conred will open shelters for Christmas Eve and Christmas

The Christmas season is characterized by that intense cold that rarely manifests itself at another time. The main recommendation is to keep warm to avoid any respiratory illness.

But not all are adequately clothed, and some don’t even have four walls and a roof for the night. This characteristic climate loved by many can be a problem for all those who are homeless.

For this reason, the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (Conred) announced that it will set up shelters, to support all those who need to protect themselves from the cold.

David de León, spokesperson for Conred, explained that authorities will be in charge of coordinating each of the shelters set up for Good Night and Christmas.

“People, families, who are in a street condition or whose housing conditions are not adequate will have the support to protect themselves due to the drop in temperature. During these days the different Municipal and Local Coordinators will be providing support and protection for those who require it, “he said.

De León added that since mid-November, when the cold season intensified, dedicated centers have been set up to support those who cannot protect themselves from the weather.

“There are 10 centers where since November 19 the first people have been treated, up to now there have been more than 1,200 who have gone to the shelters,” he said.

Likewise, Conred asks all people to be aware of how the holidays are progressing and remember that their emergency number is 119, so that any eventuality is reported at any time during the festivities.

In total there are 10 shelters that the Conred will enable for the Christmas season, which will be distributed in six departments, where the lowest temperatures are regularly reported this season.
