Networking during the end of the year

This month I decided to change the dynamics of my columns because, although it is about networking, I will relate it to these holidays and the new year that is coming. I wanted to do it this way because this is a very important time to plan the goals and objectives that we want to set ourselves for the new cycle. We must consider that planning our contact strategy is still key to this. In networking, before starting planning, you need to: (1) identify the relationships you want to seek and cultivate; (2) leaving the family circle, friends and professional colleagues to build a wide network of contacts; (3) use a system to add value to those contacts regularly; and (4) becoming the connector between connectors, that is, becoming the person who can help others to obtain a resource that they would not know or would not be able to obtain if it were not for you. Besides this, there is something else I want to share with you, it is what I consider to be one of the most important aspects of networking: giving something of yourself.

Yes, this Christmas you may not be able to give a gift to all your acquaintances and friends, but perhaps you can give something else. 1. There are people who did not have a good year and are so immersed in their problems that they are blocked and cannot visualize the possible solutions, perhaps a few words of encouragement may be what they really need to hear to move on and not lose heart. Perhaps you can recommend a book, a coach, a professional to support him or just listen to him. 2. During the pandemic, many people have lost their jobs, so we must remember that networking consists of giving before receiving, therefore, you can commit to sharing with your network, the resume of that friend, relative or known that he has not been able to get a job. Think that your network is different from his, your contacts are different, therefore, this expands the possibilities. In addition, it must be remembered that many entrepreneurs prefer to hire people who have been recommended to us. 3. Many people are having financial problems, so try to share some of your resources with them, they can be goods, money, food or others. In our country there are many charities, churches, nursing homes and orphanages that have great needs and any contribution adds to their cause. Also, it may be that a relative or neighbor needs support at this time. 4. In these last two years, many people who lost their jobs started to undertake, others who already had some entrepreneurship, lost everything, but they are reinventing and restarting their projects. Then you can use your network of contacts to help them. When you surf the networks, find your pages, like them, share them, leave a comment, visit your business, consume there, take a photo, make a video, promote it on your networks, tell your friends and share your data in groups by WhatsApp. It only takes a few minutes and you can help promote those projects. 5. Donate your time teaching what you know, today more than ever it is time to move forward together, we can help by teaching finance, marketing, sales, digital marketing, etc. Technology allows us to hold events from our home, we only need a phone or computer, the internet and the desire to help others. Finally, one of the great things about having a network of contacts is being able to use it for the benefit of others, so dust off that agenda and get to work. Use your networking this holiday season to cheer up and help someone in need and give infinite thanks to God for all the blessings you have received this year. Merry Christmas and I wish you a prosperous year 2022, full of lots of networking.
