Gang members sentenced to more than 300 years in jail for extortion, murder and other crimes

The Prosecutor’s Office against the Crime of Extortion of the Public Ministry (MP) reported that 9 members of the Barrio 18 gang were sentenced to between 6 and 358 years for the crimes of extortion and murder, among others.

As reported by the MP, it was the Third Criminal Sentencing Court that handed down the conviction against nine people linked to the Santa Fe Locotes clique of the Barrio 18 gang for different crimes.

Those sentenced are:

  1. Erick Natanael Molineros, 358 years in prison for the crimes of murder, attempted murder, pre-intentional abortion and extortion
  2. Jonathan Moisés Ochoa, 333 years in prison for the crimes of murder, attempted murder, extortion and pre-intentional abortion
  3. Jocsan Everildo Ochoa Pérez, 254 years in prison for the crimes of murder, attempted murder, and extortion
  4. Sergio David Castillo Parada, 171 years in prison for the crimes of murder, attempted murder, and extortion
  5. Marvin Arturo Alfaro Amaya, 129 years in prison for the crimes of murder and pre-intentional abortion
  6. lsy Roxana Ochoa, 14 years in prison for the crimes of illicit association and intimidating exactions on a continuous basis
  7. Marilin Tatiana Callejas Castillo, 14 years in prison for the crimes of illicit association and intimidating acts on a continuous basis
  8. Brayan José Ochoa García, 12 years in prison for the crimes of extortion and extortionate traffic obstruction
  9. Edwin Ariel Yaguas Kills 6 years in prison for the crime of illicit association.

According to the investigations, the criminal structure operated since 2009 in the Santa Fe zone 13 neighborhood of Guatemala City and is dedicated to extorting different businesses.

Some owners were required to pay between Q10 thousand and Q15 thousand and if someone objected they ordered that they be assassinated.

Other crimes in which they participated are linked to rivalry between gangs, including the murder of a pregnant woman.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office against the crime of extortion of the MP reported that in November they have achieved 54 sentences, 43 raids, 79 arrest warrants and 83 people sentenced for committing these crimes.
