Comunicaciones and Guastatoya meet their rivals in the Concacaf Champions League

Comunicaciones comes from being crowned champion of the Concacaf League, while Guastatoya advanced to the Champions League after advancing to the semifinal round of the previous tournament. The first leg matches of the round of 16 will be played between February 15 and 17.

Concacaf held the official draw for the 2022 edition of the Confederation’s premier club competition, the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League (SCCL). The event was hosted by TUDN sports presenter Ramses Sandoval and sportscaster Kaylyn Kyle.

Concacaf Secretary General Philippe Moggio, Competition Director Carlos Fernández, Concacaf region legends Chris Wondolowski and Moises Muñoz, and several of the club’s coaches also participated in the live event.

The 16 participating clubs have been divided into eight pairings as follows:

Showdown # 1: Club Leon (MEX) vs CD Guastatoya (GUA)
Showdown # 2: Seattle Sounders FC (USA) vs FC Motagua (HON)
Showdown # 3: Colorado Rapids (USA) vs FC Communications (GUA)
Showdown # 4: New York City FC (USA) vs Santos de Guapiles (CRC)
Showdown # 5: Pumas UNAM (MEX) vs Deportivo Saprissa (CRC)
Showdown # 6: New England Revolution (USA) vs Cavaly AS (HAI)
Showdown # 7: CF Montreal (CAN) vs Club Santos Laguna (MEX)
Showdown # 8: Cruz Azul (MEX) vs Hamilton Forge FC (CAN).

SCCL 2022 action will begin with the Round of 16 between February 15-17 (first leg) and February 22-24 (second leg). The round of 16 will be followed by the round-trip quarter-finals in March and the semi-finals in April. The roundtrip final is scheduled for the last week of April and the first week of May, respectively.

For the round of 16, the clubs in Pot 1 (highest ranked) will play the first leg away and the second leg at home. For the quarterfinals, the winners of the knockout stages of matches 1, 3, 5 and 7 will play the first leg away and the second leg at home.

For the Semifinals and Finals, the clubs with the best performance in the previous rounds of the competition will play the first leg away and the second leg at home (based on wins, draws and, if necessary, goal difference).

Concacaf will announce the full schedule, including start times and other details in the coming days.


Eighth Final: February 15-17 (first leg) and February 22-24 (second leg)
Quarter finals: March 8-10 (first leg) and March 15-17 (second leg)
Semifinals: April 5-7 (first leg) and April 12-14 (second leg)
Finals: April 26-28 (outbound) and May 3-5 (return)
