José Ortiz wins a bronze medal at the I Junior Pan American Games Cali-Valle 2021

The Guatemalan marcher once again stood out abroad and this time he did so in the I Junior Pan American Games that take place in Cali and Valle de Cauca in Colombia.

The games began on November 25 and will end on December 5. So far Guatemala has managed to win a gold medal, two silver and 9 bronze.

The last metal was achieved this December 1 by the young marchista Ortiz who got to the podium with David Hurtado, from Ecuador, with 1:21:56; who won the gold medal and Matheus Correa, from Brazil, with 1: 22.19, silver.

The Guatemalan tried his best in the final stretch of the test and managed to get in third, after a vibrant finish.

Ortiz participated this year in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. In the 20-kilometer event, Ortiz Flores finished in 40th place with a time of 1:28:57 (+7:52).

Ortiz Flores’ classification occurred in March 2021 in Slovakia, during the celebration of the Race Walking Challenge Permit Meeting Dudinska 50, where he performed a time of 1:20:43 hours.

In 2018, the marcher placed Guatemala on the podium of the U-20 World Championship, after winning the bronze medal in the 10,000-meter test in the competition that took place in Tampere, Finland.

That same year the youth Ortiz had also achieved bronze in the World Team Marching Championships in Taicang, China.
